Home/School Partnership
On admission to the school each parent will receive a copy of the Home/School Partnership, and will be required to sign an agreement to abide by the Parents Commitment. By entering into this partnership, parents will be expressing their commitment to the school and their children’s education.
The Home/School Partnership is an agreement between each individual family in the school. Many parents may wish to become more involved with helping and supporting the whole school and for this reason we welcome parents to come in to help by hearing readers and working with small groups during the school day, as well as accompanying the children on school visits. To comply with Ofsted Safeguarding procedures, all helpers must be police vetted and cleared.
The Home/School Book, issued to every child in the school, is used as a means of regular communication between home and school. Parents are at the very least required to sign each week to indicate that they have received and read the comments within, but are actively encouraged to write a short message to the class teacher, or indeed to their own child.
Parents and children are required to meet with the class teacher at the consultation evenings which are held in the autumn and spring terms. In Year 2 (Saffron and Primrose Classes) and Year 5 (Indigo and Navy Classes) parents, the class teacher and the headteacher meet together to discuss their child's progress in more depth. In Year 2 these take place in the Autumn Term and in Year 5 in the Summer Term. Parents receive a written report on their child’s progress towards the end of each academic year. A hand written comment from the Headteacher is included with each report. Parents and children are encouraged to add their comments to this sheet, which should be returned to school along with the completed End of Year Questionnaires.
